A recent study, reported by BBC News has found teenage girls living in the UK to be iodine deficient. Severe iodine deficient diets can lead to hypothyroidism. Those of child-bearing age especially should maintain an iodine rich diet, which is particularly important throughout pregnancy. This can be done by eating fish and drinking milk.
